How to use the Watcher

Your photos sort themselves — automatically. The Watcher keeps an eye on your import folders and moves new photos into the right place the moment they arrive. Set it once, and every future import is sorted for you.

What the Watcher is

The Watcher monitors one or more folders and reacts to new files. When photos land in a watched folder — from a memory card reader, a download, or a sync — it applies the same EXIF-based sorting as the Sorter and files them automatically.

It runs in the background and can send a notification when a batch has been sorted.

What it is for

The Watcher removes the manual import step for recurring workflows. If you always copy memory cards into the same folder, the Watcher turns that folder into an inbox that never fills up — every new photo is sorted into your library on its own.

How it works

When a new supported file appears in a watched folder, the Watcher waits briefly (a short debounce, so half-copied files are ignored), then sorts it. You choose how conflicts are handled when a file with the same name already exists:

You can watch several folders at once, including removable drives, and each keeps its own set of sorting rules.

How to use it

  1. Add the folders you want to watch.
  2. Choose a conflict strategy.
  3. Optionally define custom sorting rules.
  4. Leave it running — new photos sort themselves.

Does it work with removable drives?

Does it run in the cloud?
