2. Overview

Photography Workbench is a local desktop application. Its core principle is that your photos never leave your computer. All sorting, culling, semantic search and analysis run on-device. This website and the application are designed to collect as little data as possible.

3. Data We Collect

This website: No personal data is collected. There is no analytics, no tracking and no cookies. The only local storage used is a session-only flag that remembers your light/dark theme preference.

The application: All data — your photo index, ratings, notes, settings and library databases — is stored locally on your machine, typically under %APPDATA%\com.user.photographyworkbench. It is not transmitted to us. The AI models are downloaded once from Hugging Face on first launch, after which everything works offline.

This website does not use cookies. It uses sessionStorage (not persistent) solely to remember your theme choice for the current session.

6. Your Rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to access (Art. 15), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and to object to processing (Art. 21). Since no personal data is collected via this website, most of these rights are trivially satisfied. To exercise any right, contact the controller at the address above.

Because your data never leaves your machine, the primary protection is your own computer. The application offers an optional password lock and a privacy mode (DSGVO mode) that disables all external connections. Encryption of the local database is available as an optional future extension.
